Tom Brady had a prime seat to watch Novak Djokovic take on Casper Ruud in the men’s 2023 French Open final on Sunday.
Brady was in Djokovic’s box sitting next to Djokovic’s wife, Jelena, as the match began at Philippe-Chatrier court at Roland Garros.
Djokovic is attempting to win his 23rd career Grand Slam title to break a tie with Rafael Nadal for the most men’s singles majors in history.
Brady and Djokovic have a friendship that dates back years, as Djokovic revealed in 2021 that he seeks advice from the seven-time Super Bowl champion, who retired “for good” in February.
“I was close with Kobe Bryant, as well as Monica Seles, Andre Agassi and Boris Becker, who were my coaches, and Pete Sampras. I have spoken often with them, and I speak with Tom Brady frequently about training and recovery,” Djokovic said at the time, according to tennismajors.com. “I make an effort to make use of the opportunity to share something with all sportsmen and sportswomen, things that aided me or hindered me, and I ask questions, especially to those who have reached the pinnacle of their sport.”
Brady was already in France as he posted photos of himself on Instagram on Saturday at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a 24-hour auto race.
The former quarterback’s trip to France came after he recently took his kids to Disney World, as he posted a photo of himself last Monday screaming on the Tower of Terror ride with his daughter, Vivian.
“The happiest place on earth (until you realize your kids were lying about tower of terror being “mad chill”),” Brady captioned the post, with a laughing emoji at the end.
Sunday marked Djokovic’s 34th match in a Grand Slam final.
A win would give him three French Open titles and would make him the first man to win at least three titles at each of the four majors.
The third-seeded Djokovic defeated top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals on Friday.
Soccer stars Kylian Mbappe and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were among the other stars on hand to watch Djokovic vs. Ruud.
