NextImg:Titans unlikely to trade Derrick Henry, DeAndre Hopkins as deadline nears

Two of the NFL trade deadline’s most heavily rumored players don’t seem to be going anywhere.

The Titans are expected to keep star running back Derrick Henry and veteran receiver DeAndre Hopkins unless they receive an “exceptional” offer, according to The Athletic.

With the Titans entering Week 8 last in the AFC South at 2-4, a plethora of rumors emerged that they might look to cash in on the pair of players and other veterans on the roster.

General manager Ran Carthon has taken calls on multiple players on his roster, per the report, but does not plan to move on any offer unless it exceeds expectations.

The Cowboys were one of the more notable teams linked with Henry, but they reportedly have not called about him.

Henry is set to be an unrestricted free agent after the season.

DeAndre Hopkins is in his first season with the Titans.

It’s been rough sledding so far this season for Henry, who has rushed 98 times for 425 yards and three touchdowns.

At 29 years old and in his eighth season in the NFL, Henry is at a place in his career that often scares front offices due to their fear of running backs’ rapid decline.

Last year, Henry led the league with 349 carries while recording 1,538 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.

He’s led the league in carries three of the last five years.

Titans general manager Ran Carthon likely won’t be dealing two star players.

Hopkins, 31, signed a two-year, $26 million deal with the Titans this past offseason.

But his addition to the offense has not gone to plan, with 27 receptions for just 376 receiving yards and no touchdowns.

The Titans are now without starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who exited the team’s Week 6 loss to the Ravens with a high ankle sprain before the bye week.

He was then ruled out for Sunday’s clash against the Falcons.

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has not yet announced whether Malik Willis or Will Levis will start.

NFL Network reported Levis will be the “primary” signal-caller.
