Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis is making quite an impression on his new teammates.
Just ask first-year wide receiver Colton Dowell, who described the former Kentucky quarterback as “very intense” at Titans rookie minicamp this past week, according to The Tennessean.
“He’s a very intense guy,” Cowell said of this year’s No. 33 overall pick.
“He really wants to make the most of this opportunity.”
Levis, who endured an agonizing first-round slide in this year’s NFL Draft, bunked with Dowell and tight end Josh Whyle in a hotel room during minicamp.
Dowell, a seventh-rounder, remarked the 23-year-old Levis wasted no time throwing himself into the playbook.
“He was the first one in there and he was just looking at his iPad and he was studying plays. Our remote hasn’t moved,” Dowell said.
In fact, they’d seek out Levis if there were questions, according to Dowell, who noted it was “just kind of back-and-forth banter over the playbook.”
Levis is expected to be the third quarterback on the Titans’ depth chart behind veteran starter Ryan Tannehill and second-year pro Malik Willis.
That said, Levis will have the opportunity to compete and potentially rise through the ranks.
“What I’ve told them is whatever happens after that will be up to the players. That’s what it’s always been here. That’s what we always want it to be,” Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said in late April.
“That’s our job is to bring in competition at every position.”
As Levis embarks on this new chapter, he’s not only got the support of the Titans organization but his loved ones, too.
When the Titans made that fateful phone call to Levis on night two of the NFL Draft, the quarterback’s longtime girlfriend, Gia Duddy, celebrated immediately after.
“It’s hard to put in words what it’s like watching your best friend’s dreams come true. Proud would be an understatement— I don’t know anyone more deserving. Time to get back to work @will_levis,” Duddy recently gushed on Instagram.
The couple has been dating for more than two years.
The Titans open the 2023 season against the Saints in New Orleans.
