Let the salary cap casualties begin.
The Titans were forced to end the tenure of longtime tackle Taylor Lewan, as well as those of veteran receiver Robert Woods and kicker Randy Bullock on Wednesday. The cost-cutting moves helped Tennessee go from $25 million over the salary cap to ending the day with $4.23 million in cap space.
Lewan was an influential leader for Tennessee since he was drafted in 2014, serving as captain for a stint in 2015. The 31-year-old announced the move via his “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast Twitter account, adding a personal message from his own account.

“I hope I did enough to create something all the Titan fans can be proud of, I love you all,” he wrote.
His release came with a failed physical designation, following a season-ending knee injury in September. He’s been open about contemplating his NFL future.
“In the next couple of weeks, I will be cut by the Tennessee Titans – that will happen,” Lewan told the Titans website earlier this month. “I truly believe that in my heart of hearts. Then I have to go into a situation that I’ve never been in in my entire life: I have to weigh the pros and cons of playing football, or not playing football (again).”
If Lewan’s playing days are over, The Post’s Andrew Marchand postulated that Lewan’s “infectious personality” will almost certainly garner him broadcasting options.

Woods, meanwhile, seemed to be much happier upon learning of his newfound free agency.
“Free!” he tweeted, adding “Where should I go.”
The 30-year-old wideout is coming off one of the worst seasons of his NFL career, in which he posted a career-low 527 receiving yards in 17 games. Those numbers paled in comparison to the 556 yards he had in nine games in 2022 with the Los Angeles Rams.

Woods should still have some suitors in a weak wide receiver free-agent class despite the struggles.
Bullock had been the Titans’ primary kicker for the past two seasons, converting 43 of 51 field-goal attempts and 70 of 73 extra-point attempts in that span, though he struggled from 40-49 yards, however, missing a third of his 21 tries.
