NextImg:Tinder now lets people play matchmaker for you — including your parents

Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match.

Tinder is now letting the people in your life — including your parents — play cupid for you with a special new feature.

Talking through potential partners with trustworthy people is a no-brainer. In fact, over 75% of singles who participated in a survey commissioned on behalf of Tinder said they discuss their dating life with friends multiple times a month.

Now, the world’s most popular dating app is allowing you to get that feedback sooner rather than later with the launch of Tinder Matchmaker, which lets a user’s friends and family access Tinder to recommend profiles for them.

The new feature will help you figure out if a potential match passes the “friend test” — and if they’ll get your parents’ approval.

“For years, singles have asked their friends to help find their next match on Tinder, and now we’re making that so easy with Tinder Matchmaker,” Melissa Hobley, Chief Marketing Officer at Tinder, said in a press release. “Tinder Matchmaker brings your circle of trust into your dating journey and helps you see the possibilities you might be overlooking from the perspective of those closest to you.”

So if you’re dreading telling your parents about a new date, you can now deal with getting probably unwanted parental input before even talking to the person.

Users can invite people to view and suggest potential matches, but at the end of the day, the user gets to choose who they actually send the like to.

Tinder also partnered with rapper Coi Leray — who has been crowned the “Matchmaking Monarch of Tinder Court,” for the initiative. The 26-year-old rapper knows how hard the modern dating world can be for both singles and their besties since a match could end up staying a while.

“Handing your phone over to the friend group was the original vibe check,” Leray said. “Obviously you want your friends to like whoever you’re crushing on, and Tinder Matchmaker is a fun way to get the bestie seal of approval even before the match.”

So how does Tinder Matchmaker work?

A matchmaking session can begin straight from a profile card or within the app settings, and users can share their matchmaking link with up to 15 people in a 24-hour period. The selected matchmaker can then either log in to Tinder or continue as a guest.

Friends and family will have just 24 hours to “play cupid” before the session runs out, where they can recommend profiles for the user.

Don’t worry about anyone, especially your parents, embarrassing you for potential partners — matchmakers won’t be able to chat or send messages on your behalf.

When the session is over, users can take a look at the people their personal cupids chose for them, which will be marked as a “recommendation” in the app.

Tinder Matchmaker is available now in the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, and Vietnam, and will soon be rolling out globally.
