Tina Turner revealed the secret to a life well-lived mere weeks before her death.

The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll — who died Wednesday at the age of 83 — cryptically told British Vogue in an interview published on April 17 about how she managed to live fully despite all the hardships she had endured.

“What does well-lived mean?” she replied to the question, going on to explain, “My life has been full, but with lots of sad times that I now forgive and strive to forget.

“Maybe that’s the answer: to keep moving forward, to let go and aim to fill your life with love,” she added. “That is where I am now, and I am grateful.”

In the same interview, Turner was asked what “advice” she would give her younger self.

“I would tell myself to stay strong and continue wanting more and fighting for it all! It will come, and it will be worth the wait!” she told the magazine.
