A 12-year-old migrant boy has been deemed the ringleader of a migrant robbery gang preying on people in New York City (“The puny li’l punk is at it again!” May 6).
This sanctuary city has provided the juvenile thug with a taxpayer-funded hotel so he has a place of refuge after he and his cohorts return from a day of robbing and terrorizing average city dwellers. When police attempted to apprehend the gang of punks after an attempted robbery, they were attacked by hurling projectiles.
This revolting scenario is a microcosm of the deplorable migrant crisis facilitated by blue-state politicians who are continuing to inevitably jeopardize the safety of law-abiding citizens.

As a psychologist who is trained in the treatment of children and adolescents, I say there have to be significant consequences to end this madness.
The punishment needs to be swift and consequential; afterward, with some luck, this preadolescent can be reintegrated back into society.
Leniency and no consequences will lead to further antisocial behavior.

It looks like these kids need a nice stay at CECOT in El Salvador to wipe the smiles off their faces and give them a much-needed attitude adjustment. Deporting them won’t be enough.
You might think that sounds harsh, but what’s the alternative?
We can’t treat them like average children, making them think that stealing and terrorizing people has no consequences. Then they’ll grow up to be adult menaces.
These are not normal 12-year-olds and should not be treated like they simply failed to turn in their math homework.
For years, we have allowed the progressives to dictate how criminals are treated — but treating them like victims has failed miserably.
A little dose of “scared straight” may be just what these kids need.

Another attack against cops has occurred, this time by young hoodlums. Mayor Flip-Flop will come out against the thugs while still claiming this is a sanctuary city.
Well, you can’t have it both ways, Eric Adams. You are either for law and order or you’re for criminal migrants.

President Trump is absolutely correct when he says that the minerals deal with Ukraine is a de facto security guarantee (“Minerals deal for leverage,” May 6).
America now has a vested interest in the region and this deal is only the beginning. Trump would be wise to fulfill the weapons pledges made by his predecessor and initiate a few new ones. This would make clear to Vladimir Putin that we are not going anywhere and neither is Ukraine.

With cooperation on the development of mineral reserves and continued military support, the United States may help save Ukraine from annihilation.
Moral integrity is what puts America’s support for Ukraine in its best interest.

This mineral deal could be better than a NATO membership. Putin will think twice before attacking a US trading partner.
This might be Trump’s best initiative since his election.
