Virginia Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine has taken nearly $100,000 from a wind energy company while he pushes its interests in the state.
A Political Action Committee for Richmond, Virginia-based Dominion Energy has donated $23,000 to Kaine’s campaign committee since 2011.
The company has given a further $44,500 to the Democratic Common Ground PAC, where Kaine serves as chairman.
The numbers were first reported by Fox News, which also found that company executives had added a further $19,600 to Kaine’s haul and even lobbyists for the company has chipped in $3,000.
Kaine, who was elected to the Senate in 2012, previously served as Virginia governor from 2006 to 2010.
He may be best known as Hillary Clinton’s running mate in the 2016 presidential election.

Dominion Energy is looking to develop the state’s first off-shore wind farm, a project which Kaine enthusiastically supports.
“Senator Kaine makes decisions based on his own research and conscience, as informed by his intense listening to Virginians,” a Kaine spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “Since 2011, Senator Kaine has raised well over $40 million from well over 100,000 donors. Donations have no effect on his decisions.”
