TikTok has become a social media staple since its introduction to the masses in 2016.
But while the über-popular platform lures in a billion monthly users, relatively few followers have properly tapped into the medley of hacks that the app has to offer, Insider reports.
Even the biggest of TikTok fans may not know these wild and ingenious tricks for optimizing their site usage, according to the outlet.
Here are a few tips to improve your scrolling game.
Did you know there’s an easy way to speed through lengthier posts?
You can watch a video at twice its normal rate by holding your finger down on the left side of your phone screen, and moving it along the line to skip to the parts you want to watch.
On the other hand, if you want to slow down videos, you can place one fingertip on the glass screen and list will appear.
On the menu’s top row, a “playback speed” function will come. Once you touch the icon, several options will pop up, including ways to view the clip at 0.5x speed and at 1.5x.
Another tip is for when you need to get rid of the annoying icons that take up a lot of screen real estate when you view a snapshot.
The likes, comments, favorites, and share buttons are usually seen on every clip.
But there is a hack to erase them — when you press onto the video, a menu will come up and touch down on the “clear display” option. This will clean out the display and watching TikTok will be a breeze.
If you want to view videos while multi-tasking with other apps on your phone, here is what to do.
After touching the pop-up menu, there is a choice for “picture-in-picture.” When you click on that option, exit the TikTok app. Once this occurs, TikTok will still be playing the background and will stay open in a mini-window at the top of your screen.
However, this function will lead to auto-scrolling, meaning that clips will continuously play on your For You Page without you physically swiping up.
If you like the auto-scrolling trick, there is also a way to do it while in the app itself.
On the pop-up menu, there is a function labeled “auto scroll.” Simply click that button and BAM — an endless series of TikToks will flow through.
When you want to go back and view all of the posts that you previously scrolled through, you can easily check your watch history.
On the right side of your social media profile, there are three lines on the top of screen. Tick the toggle that reads “settings and privacy,” and then the one that says “activity center.”
There, you see past videos under “watch history.” There will also be other options, such as viewing all the comments you wrote in one place, or a look back at your search history within the app.
