Police are hunting for a trio of women accused of robbing at least two taxi drivers at gunpoint in Manhattan and the Bronx.
The first incident occurred just after 1 a.m. on Nov. 20, when a 60-year-old cabbie got into an argument with the three women, who were passengers in his taxi, on Lexington Avenue near East 42nd Street, the NYPD said.
The suspects pulled a gun on the driver and snatched his cellphone — before jumping out of the car and running off into the Grand Central-42nd Street subway station, according to police.
Less than two hours later, a 59-year-old taxi driver was dropping the same threesome at the intersection of Ryer Avenue and East 180th Street in the Bronx, when the passengers again pulled a gun and demanded that the cabbie hand over his valuables to them, cops said.
The suspects grabbed his cellphone and wallet containing $210, and took off running, according to police.
Neither robbery victim was injured, cops said.
Police described one of the suspects as being 5-foot-7, with a light complexion and a slim build. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, a green top, green tights and black-and-white sneakers.
Another woman was said to be 5-foot-5, with a light complexion, heavy build, and black-and-red braids. She was last seen in a black jacket, black pants, and brown fur slippers, as depicted in a surveillance photo released by the NYPD Monday.
The third suspect was described as being 5-foot-7, with a dark complexion and a heavy build. She was last sighted sporting a black hooded jacket and matching pants, along with a surgical mask and gloves.
Police were asking for the public’s help in locating the trio of suspects in the armed robberies.
