“When [President Trump says] it’s liberation day. . . those are racist remarks.” — Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ), Friday

We say: Trump says he wants to liberate DC residents from the disorder that’s plaguing the city; McIver insists this is not only racist, but an attempt to show “white power.”

No matter that the vast majority of crime victims who will benefit from more law and order are not white — in fact, a 2021 report showed that a jaw-dropping 94% of homicide victims in DC were black.

Is doing something to fix that “racist,” congresswoman?

“Restaurants in DC have seen the number of diners plummet more than 25%.” — The New York Times’ Peter Baker, Wednesday

We say: Baker was trying to prove that Trump sending in the National Guard has turned DC into a ghost town.

Except the article Baker referenced was updated to show that it had compared non-Restaurant Week numbers from this year to the same time last year, when the eatery-filling promotion was in full force.

Oops! As soon as this year’s Restaurant Week started, the numbers spiked back up again.

Another liberal narrative bites the dust.

“[Democrats] should be united . . . to stop what Trump is doing right now, not just in DC but across the country.” — Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), Tuesday

We say: Garcia wants Democrats in the Senate and the House to do “everything we can do” and use “all of our power,” including shutting down the government, to sabotage the president’s agenda — because “stop Trump” is clearly the only rallying cry the party has.

Tripling-down on resisting Republicans won’t save Democrats’ tanking poll numbers or stop voters from fleeing the party.

And it certainly won’t help Americans.

But Garcia and his ilk won’t let that stop them.
