Talk about staying ahead of a trend.
An Oklahoma couple has stunned Swifties after a resurfaced photo of their Halloween costume from 2020 shows them dressed up as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce — nearly three years before the two celebrities were ever romantically linked.
Makayla Stephens shared a photo of her and her husband Nick’s costumes back in October 2020.
Donning a pink top, white jeans, and a sparkling pink heart around her eye — a fun nod at Swift’s “Lover” album cover — Nick is seen sporting a Kelce Kansas City Chiefs jersey, complete with eye black.
“I don’t know any world in which Taylor Swift + Travis Kelce would be in the same room together,” Makayla captioned the post.
“But, apparently in this one they’re married?”
Makayla detailed how she got the idea for the costume in a TikTok following the news that the “Cruel Summer” singer and All-Pro tight-end were allegedly seeing each other.
She explains her in-laws had moved into a new house that October and wanted to host a Halloween party to celebrate.
Makayla said they were “not big dress-up people” and weren’t planning anything until they were told they needed to come in a costume to “go to the party.”
“My husband has always been a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan,” Makayla said — adding that Nick was born into loving the historic franchise well before Patrick Mahomes joined the team.
“I have always been a huge Taylor Swift fan,” she said, showing a picture of her dressed up as Swift to attend her celebrate-themed 7th-grade dance.
The couple began rummaging through their closet to find a costume when Nick said he would just throw on his Travis Kelce jersey after failing to think of a costume for the party.
Makayla, also without ideas of what to wear, decided off the top of her head to go as the “Bad Blood” singer.
“I’ll be Taylor Swift since I have things that I can make work for ‘Lover,’” she recalls telling her husband.
The couple went to the party dressed as the then-fantasy couple “long before” the current Swift and Kelce fervor of today.
Fast forward to October 2023, Makayla said she was scrolling through TikTok and came across a post about couples costume ideas — with one of the recommendations being to go as the celebrity couple.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God. I’ve already done this.’”
“Long story short, I’m not saying I manifested their supposed, alleged relationship — or situationship if you want to call it that,” Makayla said.
“But, I am saying that… I did the Halloween costume first.”
The TikTok breakdown has been viewed over 109k times since posting it on Sept. 18 — and Swifties in her comments are praising and crediting her for “manifesting” Swift and Kelce’s alleged relationship.
“THANK YOU FOR MANIFESTING THIS! ????????????,” one excited Swifty commented.
“The universe understood the assignment,” another stated.
“If they do end up getting married, it better be on the anniversary of this post,” wrote another TikToker.
“Queen can you manifest my crush and I. I’ll send you his pics,” another jokingly asked.
In the midst of the Kelce-Swift hype, the couple flew out to watch the New York Jets take on the Chiefs at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday dressed as they did for the Halloween party back in 2020.
The “Anti-Hero” singer was also at the star-studded game to cheer on her rumored beau.
“I’m so lucky that I got to do it all with my best friend by my side… and hey, seeing Taylor Swift (from a distance) was a bonus, too,” Makayla wrote in her Instagram caption.
In other Kelce-Swift Halloween-related news, the alleged couple reportedly is planning a joint costume for Heidi Klum’s annual Halloween bash.
According to the Daily Mail’s insider, the “Style” hitmaker and the NFL star have already joked about dressing as Barbie and Ken for the upcoming holiday.
“[Kelce] wants to get in as much time as possible with her before she embarks on her international tour.”
