NextImg:The viral food summer food trend taking over TikTok: ‘Best treat on those hot days’

A food trend taking over social media has been slammed as “too much work”, but others are singing its praises from the rooftops.

A TikToker known on the social media platform as @feelgoodfoodie dedicates her platform to testing out new recipes.

In 2020, she shared her first video creating watermelon fries, and the tasty summer dish has gone viral once again – now with a dipping sauce.

Essentially, the dish consists of watermelon cut up into sticks and paired with yogurt.

@FeelGoodFoodie’s original dip consisted of yogurt, Tajin and honey, but this time it’s strawberries, yogurt and honey blended together into an almost liquid consistency.

This time, she used a crinkle cutter to make the watermelon look like crinkle-cut hot chips.

She said the new version was her son’s favourite snack, with the video attracting more than 1.3 million views.

Another TikTok user known as @momlifewithlaura also created the dish, saying it was going to be her new go-to dessert to bring to summer barbecues.

Other versions do away with the dip all together, instead garnishing the watermelon with Tarjin, which is a chilli pepper, salt and lime seasoning blend, and limes.

Meanwhile, user @.cookwithbrooke stuck with the original recipe that was once shared online by @feelgoodfoodie, opting for high protein Greek yogurt and Tajin for her accompaniment.

User @sellingthesuburbs called it the “best treat on those hot days” and made coconut lime dip with her dish.

But not everyone was impressed by the creation, with some saying it was too much work for the fruit.

“Why all this work for watermelon,” one social media user asked.

Another added: “Looks good but too much work for me.”

“I prefer plain watermelon, otherwise the flavor is camouflaged by yogurt and strawberries,” another said.

One added: “In my opinion I would put chamoy and Tajin for the dip but works both ways.”

Another social media user suggested: “Lime juice on top instead of dip! TRUST ME.”
