The View is doubling down on coverage of the 2024 presidential election as America prepares to choose a new leader tomorrow. With Nov. 5 just on the horizon, the Hot Topics table analyzed the closing arguments of both Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, who are using starkly different tactics to win over voters.
The View played footage of Trump’s Nov. 1 rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin — during which he fumed over technical difficulties and appeared to simulate a sex act on his microphone stand — and Harris’ remarks about unity and “the next chapter of our history” in Detroit, Michigan.
After the clips concluded, Whoopi Goldberg asked her co-hosts how these appearances would sway voters ahead of the election, including “parents who had to allow their children to watch this fool messing with a mic this way.”
Goldberg added, “I hadn’t seen that, so I don’t know why I’m surprised,” while Ana Navarro replied, “Can you imagine what the reaction would have been if it had been Kamala Harris who had done that to a microphone? The hypocrisy is endless.”
A flabbergasted Goldberg exclaimed, “Or anybody! Anybody! If anyone— I mean, who does that?!”
Sunny Hostin, without missing beat, proclaimed, “Nobody except for him.” Hostin then said she thinks the candidates’ respective remarks “are really resonating with voters.”
She explained, “The Vice President spoke at a historically Black church and she also spoke to Arab Americans in Michigan, which is a battleground state,” continuing, “On the other side, you have Trump having a meltdown at a rally in Milwaukee, simulating a sex act, basically, with a microphone. He declared that he shouldn’t have left the White House at the end of his term. I mean, I don’t think we should have let him into the White House, but there he was.”

She then added, “You have the Vice President offering hope [and] unity, while Trump threatens the press, sexually assaults a microphone, and drove around in a garbage truck.”
Sara Haines chimed in with a laugh, “Allegedly,” as Hostin asked, “Which one resonates, right, which one resonates?”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
