Sunny Hostin can hold a grudge — especially for men from her past. On this morning’s episode of The View, Hostin called out an ex-boyfriend who dumped her on New Year’s Eve when she was a young adult — and she even named him!

The fiery moment came amid a Hot Topics segment about Sylvester Stallone once sending a breakup letter to his wife Jennifer Flavin through FedEx. The co-hosts weighed in with their own breakup stories — and whether they think the conversation is better had in person or in writing.

“I’ve always been the break-ee. I don’t break up with people,” Hostin said. “They break up with me. And they always do it in person and then I cry.”

The former prosecutor recalled the time she got unexpectedly broken up with on New Year’s Eve.

“Erik Council,” she began. “On New Year’s Eve, we were supposed to go to a party. I was very dressed up, I thought I looked cute. He came in. He wasn’t as dressed up. I thought that was strange. And he said, ‘I’d like to start the new year off right. But that’s going to be without you.’”

Merely telling the story on national television wasn’t enough for Hostin, who proceeded to spell out his name for Joy Behar after she said she’d write him.

“His name is Erik with a ‘K.’ Council — C-O-U-N-C-I-L,” Hostin added.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, for her part, thought Hostin’s story proved that it “doesn’t hurt any less” when breakups are conducted face-to-face. “I actually prefer a pettier, more dismissive one because it makes it easier to get over the person,” she said, while Hostin added, “It didn’t.”

According to Hostin, she was only 19 when the incident occurred — and while that means it happened more than 30 years ago, she admitted that the breakup still stings.

“I’m still not over it! It was horrible,” she said.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
