Sunny Hostin and the rest of the ladies on The View were impressed with the turnout for the “No Kings” protests over the weekend, though she warned of “severe” backlash to President Donald Trump‘s $45 million military parade that was going on at the same time.

On this morning’s episode of The View, Hostin praised the five million protesters who showed out all over the country to rally against Trump’s authoritarian habits.

“Are people awake? Five million people looked real awake during these protests,” Hostin gushed.

“I think what was really very, very important was what Ana [Navarro] said,” Hostin continued. “They avoided disrespecting the military, they did not do counter-programing or anything like that. But they did speak in unison.”

As protests against Trump’s administration swept across the country on Saturday (June 14), the POTUS threw a pricey parade in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army — and, it also happened to be his 79th birthday.

“The backlash, I think, to President Trump’s military parade is gonna be pretty swift and pretty severe because he wasted $45 million of American taxpayer dollars and, at the same time, is taking away money from our veterans, from their healthcare, from their families, from their food,” Hostin said.

While Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins insisted that veteran benefits “aren’t getting cut” and instead promised to “improve” services for veterans, Department of Veterans Affairs chief of staff, Christopher Syrek, reportedly announced plans to bring the VA back down to its 2019 staffing numbers, meaning more than 80,000 jobs within the organization would be gutted.

Trump’s military parade has been a frequent Hot Topic on The View as of late, with Navarro recently urging the President to leave those types of events for the “dictators.”

“It’s the hypocrisy. It’s the fact that we never did it as America, we never had these types of parades because we are the biggest military force,” she said on Friday’s (June 13) episode of The View. “And when you are the biggest, the most powerful, you don’t need to show off. Leave it to Kim Jong Un. Leave it for the dictators.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
