The ladies of The View got into a heated discussion after Sunny Hostin raised a topic that she felt they were not “talking enough about” regarding Donald Trump‘s recent decision to accept 59 white South African refugees into the country while reportedly denying the same status to refugees from other countries, such as Haiti and Afghanistan.
“The fact that Afghan refugees – people who helped us during the Afghanistan war, helped us and protected our troops, – that program has been dismissed. Haitians that are truly refugees, they have been denied that status,” she said, until Joy Behar prodded Hostin to share what was really on her mind, asking, “So, what do you think is the bottom line, Sunny?”
Hostin fell comically silent for an awkward beat as she hesitated to express how she really felt about the topic But later in the conversation, as Alyssa Farah Griffin agreed with Hostin’s points and said America was “betraying the Afghan people” by denying the refugee status for those in need, Behar pointedly called out the Trump administration for why they were not as accepting towards refugees from other countries.
“They’re not white people, that’s why they don’t want them here,” Behar boldly claimed on the show. “It’s obvious.”

Hostin seemed to agree as she added, “She said it, I didn’t.”
Behar made her opinion on the Trump administration very clear during that Hot Topics segment, in which they also discussed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Kristi Noem’s lackluster appearances during their respective committee hearings this week.
Hostin called Noem out directly after seeing footage from her tense House Homeland Security Committee hearing. “Having Kristi Noem be in charge of Homeland Security in and of itself is an insult,” Hostin claimed.
Behar kept her words to herself but she loudly growled at the mention of Noem’s name, prompting laughter from the audience.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
