The feud between President Donald Trump and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made its way to the Hot Topics table on this morning’s episode of The View.

Following Trump’s attacks on three nuclear facilities in Iran last weekend, Ocasio-Cortez called for the POTUS to be impeached, to which he responded by calling her “stupid” and “one of the dumbest people in Congress” in a scathing Truth Social post.

At the top of today’s broadcast of The View, co-host Joy Behar — who was stepping in as moderator in Whoopi Goldberg‘s absence — speculated that Trump’s disdain for Ocasio-Cortez stems from his general dislike of “strong women.”

“My experience with him and my observation with him is that he really doesn’t like strong women,” Behar said. “He likes dutiful, obedient women who compliment him.”

According to Behar, her personal experience with Trump in the past led her to this conclusion.

“Even back in the day when I used to do jokes about his hair — but every male comedian did jokes about his hair — he went after me, in particular,” she said. “And Rosie [O’Donnell]. He went bananas on Rosie.”

“So, he’s not gonna like [Ocasio-Cortez],” Behar added. “Somehow, this type of woman really gets in his kishka.”

While it’s no secret that Behar doesn’t like Trump, she once shared that they used to be friends.

“Donald Trump and I go back on this show,” she told The View’s executive producer Brian Teta in an April 2024 episode of the Behind the Table podcast. “He was just kind of a New York guy who had a show.”

“He was doing The Apprentice and asked me to be on it,” she revealed at the time. “I didn’t want to be on it. I said, ‘No, I’m not interested.’”

Behar explained that she “did not know he was going to turn into this anti-democratic, philandering felon,” adding, “He was not the threat that he is now.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
