On a recent episode of The View: Behind The Table podcast, daytime talk show producer Brian Teta pointed out that host Joy Behar appeared to be more affected this week by the news cycle.
While discussing Behar’s comments about current events on The View this week, Teta remarked that Behar seemed to be “feeling it” more than usual in the past few days.
“There are times when we’ve worked together when the news cycles get particularly dark, and I feel like you carry that with you more than most people,” he told her.
Teta added that he thinks her bad moods sometimes help her open up more on the show, but it can also make his job a bit more difficult as the show’s producer.
“It makes my life harder generally because you’re cranky,” he admitted, but Behar swiftly replied, “Well, I’m cranky because I want things to be better. For things to get fixed.”
Teta remarked that, as a producer on The View, he can’t exactly fix the Israel-Palestine conflict happening in the Middle East.
“Yeah, well, no one is, it seems,” Behar responded.

Behar also seemed to be exasperated with the Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith media circus that recently unfolded. Earlier this week, she demanded on The View that Smith defend himself in response to his wife publicly discussing their relationship in a way that she felt made him look “pathetic.”
“You know, this guy played Mohammed Ali. Come on, get in the ring with her. Why would he sit there and just—,” she began saying, referring to his 2001 movie Ali, before her fellow co-hosts cut her off.
She clarified, “Well, verbally. Don’t slap ’em. Don’t slap anybody again. That’s out. No, no slapping.”
She also wasn’t buying it when Sunny Hostin asked her, “What if he really loves her?”
“You’re confusing love with masochism,” Behar retorted.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
