Travis Kelce got an official stamp of approval from The View table this morning. The ladies collectively praised the Kansas City Chiefs tight end for his remarks about President Donald Trump‘s plans to attend the Super Bowl this Sunday (Feb. 9), where he will become the first sitting president to do so.
Kelce was asked about his reaction to Trump’s planned attendance by a reporter on Wednesday (Feb. 5), and replied, “That’s awesome. It’s a great honor.”
He added, “No matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, and having the president there, and it’s the best country in the world.”
Of course, Trump has been vocal about his distaste for Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift — who endorsed President Joe Biden in 2020 and Kamala Harris in 2024 — and even once posted on social media, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”
However, The View wasn’t mad that Kelce didn’t diss Trump. Instead, his words pleased the Hot Topics table, and even self-professed “Taylor Swift fan” Alyssa Farah Griffin, who said she’s “not mad about it.”
“I thought it was pure, totally classy and diplomatic answer, and it’s his big day to be playing,” she said, adding, “The presidency is bigger than any one person. He is proud that the president of the United States is there, I don’t know that it’s any kind of statement about Donald Trump, specifically.”
Ana Navarro argued that if Kelce had said anything inflammatory, it would have affected his team on one of the biggest days of their careers. “Imagine though, if he had said something about Trump, it would have been taken out on his team, and all the hate that his team would receive as they’re heading into the Super Bowl,” she said.
Sara Haines agreed, noting, “Anything else he said would have made it about something else and not about them. He’s dressed in his uniform … you’re representing more than yourself. He made a point of saying, ‘I love this country.'”

As for Sunny Hostin , she said those words were “a tell” from Kelce, who comes from a “very loving” family who is “very protective over their women.” By saying he loved the country but not saying he loved the president, Hostin believed Kelce was sending a subtle message while keeping everything civil.
“I’m pretty sure that Travis Kelce knows that [Trump hates Swift],” Hostin said. “He was being a diplomat, and I think he did the right thing by not giving in to this madness.”
Whoopi Goldberg, of course, kept it simple. She praised Kelce by saying, “The kid did well, I think.”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
