A Mother’s Day segment on The View practically derailed the broadcast after Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sara Haines both burst into tears after talking about their pets. But Ana Navarro could not help but poke fun at her co-hosts amidst all the tears.

The tears started flowing during a conversation about whether pet owners should receive gifts for Mother’s Day, which most of the ladies agreed was harmless. “For people like me whose mother is dead who have no children, what’s the big deal of buying a $3 card and saying happy Mother’s Day because of your dog?” Navarro asked.

But Haines started becoming emotional as she opened up about her dog, Trixie. She shared that she had received some “flack” for sharing a post on social media about how she and Trixie adjusted to the arrival of her son, Alec.

“Trixie was my first baby,” Haines said through tears. “And I was trying to let her know that as I was adjusting, she was adjusting. And I wanted her to know that I still loved her and just because I had this baby doesn’t mean I loved her less. And people were like, ‘What a stretch trying to compare your baby and your dog to having two kids.'”

Griffin also could not fight back her tears as she spoke about her dogs and her struggle with infertility.

“Dogs are absolutely part of the family,” she said in agreement to Haines. “As someone who is dealing with with infertility and going through IVF, Mother’s Day is a brutal day. Everybody has a baby and that’s all you see. But then I hold these two little angels and I’m like, ‘I have these loving creatures who, on my worst day, think I am their world.'”

Through tears, Griffin went on to state she would “give years of my life to extend their life” and “give a limb for either one of them,” as Sunny Hostin attempted to comfort her.

Hostin then tried to continue their discussion, but Behar couldn’t help but note that the day’s Hot Topic was surprisingly making everyone “so upset,” prompting laughter from her co-hosts and the audience. It had, indeed, been an emotional day at The View as the ladies got into an argument about Donald Trump just before the commercial break.

Navarro seemed to agree as she commented, “I know, and I’m the hormonal bitch on menopause!”

The hilarious comment lightened the mood as the whole studio laughed.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
