Former Rep. Liz Cheney is preparing for Donald Trump‘s reaction if he loses the presidential election to Vice President Kamala Harris this week.
On this morning’s episode of The View, Cheney — who has endorsed Harris, despite being a lifelong Republican — predicted that Trump will falsely claim the election was rigged if he loses again. According to the politician, Trump and his team have already started with the rhetoric.
“I think everybody across this country has to be aware that the Trump campaign has already begun pushing notions about rigged elections, stolen elections, fraudulent claims,” she said. “Everybody’s got to be aware that they’re gonna do it.”
“We’re in a much better place at the local level to help defend against those fraudulent claims,” Cheney added. “But people just need to be aware that it’s happening.”
Sunny Hostin then asked Cheney if she thought House Speaker Mike Johnson will “do the right thing” by certifying the election results if Harris wins.
“No, I don’t,” Cheney replied without any hesitation. “And I think that’s why it’s so important that Republicans not be in the majority come January of 2025.”
Cheney — who voted for Trump in both 2016 and 2020 — has been busy campaigning for Harris ever since she announced her endorsement in September.

“The most conservative principle for conservatives, for anybody, is being faithful to the Constitution,” Cheney said on The View. “In this race, Donald Trump is certainly not a conservative.”
The politician went on to praise Harris, telling the co-hosts, “I also have had the chance to spend time with Vice President Harris and to get to talk to her, to get to know and understand her sincerity about being a president for all of us and her sincerity about being a faithful public servant — somebody who is going to operate in good faith and somebody who is the kind of person that you know will be able to lead and inspire millions of Americans, and especially our little girls.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
