As Joy Behar so appropriately said just before Ana Navarro‘s impassioned rant about nepo babies, “Release the Kraken!”
On this morning’s episode of The View, the panel dove into the subject of the year, which became a Hot Topic after famed nepo baby Gwyneth Paltrow slammed the “ugly moniker.” According to the star, who is the daughter of actress Blythe Danner and director and producer Bruce Paltrow, “there’s nothing wrong with doing or wanting to do what your parents do,” per Bustle.
While chatting on The View, Navarro — who believes there is “no doubt that having rich, connected parents give you a leg up in life” — presumed that nobody “questions” nepo babies like Paltrow, Liza Minnelli or Mitt Romney.
“These are people who may have started off as a nepo baby, who may have started off with doors opening because of who their father or their mother was,” she began. “But who’ve worked, who’ve earned it, who’ve shown talent, who had merit, who had risen up because of what they’ve done.”
However, Navarro’s demeanor took a dark turn as she laid into the type of “talentless” nepo babies she can’t defend.

“The people who give nepo babies a bad name are the people who start every sentence with, ‘My father,’ or, ‘My mother,'” she fumed. “[They] are talentless dolts, and instead of being humble and grateful for the opportunities they are given because they won the ovarian lottery, [they] are toxic brats, entitled and privileged, who make everybody’s life hell because they know they can’t be fired because of who they are.”
When Navarro finally took a breath, Sara Haines chimed in to agree with her.
“There are two types of nepo babies,” she clarified. “There are nepo babies that act like that. And then there are nepo babies that come in and they work twice as hard because they know that they have that leg up. Those people are some of the best in the room because they need to prove themselves.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
