The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 is delivering a downright addicting final season, with highly-anticipated book moments, iconic needle drops, and exciting Easter eggs regularly delighting fans over the past eight weeks. But TSITP‘s impressive Season 3 streak may have ended with Episode 9…

On the heels of Belly (Lola Tung) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) calling off their wedding in Episode 8, TSITP Season 3, Episode 9, “Last Call,” saw Belly hop a flight to Paris while Jere, Conrad (Christopher Briney), Taylor (Rain Spencer), Steven (Sean Kaufman), and the rest of the crew back at Cousins Beach set out to recover from the unexpected turn of events.

Unlike Season 3 episodes past, however, when the end credits rolled on Episode 9 (and another Taylor Swift song swelled) fans were left feeling disappointed. Why? We’re breaking down Episode 9’s events and reaction below!

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, Episode 9 spoilers ahead.

First things first: the airport. Season 3, Episode 9 picks up right where Episode 8 left off, with Belly spotting Conrad in the airport as she’s about to board her flight. While it looked as though Belly would leave the boarding line to talk to Conrad, “Last Call” reveals that she never interacted with him in the airport, and instead, headed straight to Paris without telling anyone.

Moments after Belly boarded, Conrad got a call from his dad and learned that the wedding was off. He headed back to Cousins to support Jere, who was drowning his sorrows at a bar surrounded by friends, but Taylor ran interference and advised him to stay away. While Laurel (Jackie Chung) and Adam (Tom Everett Scott) dealt with canceled wedding drama, Jere spent the episode mourning the loss of his relationship and lashing out at loved ones like Laurel and Connie. But not all love was lost! At long last, Steven and Taylor rekindled their romance and officially started dating. And yes, Steven finally learned that Belly and Conrad spent Christmas together, then Jere hooked up with Lacie Barone in Cabo, which helped put everything into perspective for him.

While Belly jetted off to Paris with the belief that she’d study abroad for a semester, after landing, she was devastated to learn that her slot in the program was filled. She booked a same-day flight home, but after her backpack was stolen, she tracked her AirTag and embarked on a chase around the city to retrieve it — mostly because her engagement ring was inside! She got her bag back, but perhaps more importantly, the chase led her to a group of new friends: Gemma (Corinna Brown), Max (Jahz Armando), Celine (Isaline Prevost Radeff),and Benito (Fernando Cattori).

After Belly finally called Jere and revealed plans to stay in Paris to find out who she could be without him, Jere told off Conrad, and the episode ended with Connie leaving Cousins and Belly getting ready to rebuild abroad. Overall, the ninth installment did show crucial plot development, but with only two episodes remaining in the series and time ticking away, fans were expecting a Paris-heavy Episode 9 that covered much more ground. Some dubbed Episode 9 a “filler episode,” while others took issue with Jeremiah’s extended screen time. A number of fans were heartbroken that Conrad was kicked while he was down, again, and some even classified the installment as “rage bait.” While the episode featured some standout scenes — like Conrad’s vulnerable conversation with Adam and STAYLOR — TSITP fans were quick to critique the third to last episode of the series.

In Han’s defense, Episode 9 expectations were likely set sky-high because the newly released trailer gave people the impression that a jam-packed Paris episode was airing this week.

With Belly staying abroad, we’ll undoubtedly get more Paris scenes, a potential time jump or accelerated montage, and we’ll see Belly receiving Conrad’s letters as teased. But with just two episodes left, fans are starting to feel the pressure and worry that the end of the series may feel rushed.

If there’s one thing we know about Jenny Han, it’s that she always has a plan! So mark your calendars for Episode 10 (Wednesday, September 10), cross your fingers that a life-changing Paris episode awaits, and try to have faith that the author of the books and the creator of the Prime Video series wrote the final episodes this way for a reason.

New episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 premiere Wednesdays on Prime Video.
