NextImg:'The Substance' comes to digital, but when will 'The Substance' be streaming?

If you didn’t catch The Substance in theaters—and if you haven’t already been spoiled by all the clips posted on social media—then you’ll definitely want to watch The Substance online. Luckily for you, The Substance is coming both to video-on-demand and on streaming this week, just in time for Halloween.

Written and directed by French filmmaker Coralie Fargeat, this horror film first premiered at Cannes Film Festival to rave reviews, where it also won the Palme d’Or for Best Screenplay. Demi Moore stars as a fictional, aging Hollywood star named Elisabeth Sparkle, who uses an experimental black market drug to create a younger, hotter clone of herself, played by Margaret Qualley. Also starring Dennis Quaid as a sexist, unhinged Hollywood producer, The Substance is a loud, gross, and outrageous commentary on ageism and misogyny. It’s no wonder the movie has horror fans buzzing.

Here’s what to know about how to watch The Substance online, and where to watch The Substance on streaming.

Beginning on Tuesday, October 29, The Substance will be available to buy on digital platforms like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Vudu. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon, The Substance costs $19.99 to buy.

But if you’re willing to wait a few more days, and if you have a subscription to Mubi, The Substance will also begin streaming on Mubi this week.

The Substance will begin streaming on Mubi on Thursday, October 31, aka on Halloween. It’s the perfect Halloween watch!

Mubi is a subscription-based streaming service that boast a large library of international cinema, art house films, and small independent movies. Subscriptions start at $14.99 a month, or $9.99 a month, if you’re willing to pay for a full year. Students can also get Mubi for $9.99 month without paying for the full year. You can also get a 7-day Mubi free trial, if you haven’t used it up already.

Happy streaming, and don’t forget: The balance must be respected.
