Jey Uso got the Big E and Kofi Kingston treatment in the main event of “Monday Night Raw.”
Uso, just 51 days after finally slaying Gunther at WrestleMania 41 to win the World Heavyweight championship for the first time, lost the title back to The Ring General, who put him to sleep in the middle of the ring.
I couldn’t help but think of the popular Kingston, who lost his first WWE championship after 107 days to Brock Lesnar in 2019 on the season premiere of “SmackDown” on Fox, and Big E, who lost his first WWE championship to Lesnar at Day 1 in 2022 so The Beast and Roman Reigns could main event WrestleMania 38 and unify their belts.
Both, like Uso, were wrestlers who were over with the audience, but just didn’t feel like big enough stars for WWE to put sustained faith in them at the top of the card when the company had grander plans for the championships. At least Big E and Kingston went over 100 days.
