The New York Post and the nation’s leader in college consulting, Command Education, are thrilled to kick off 2025 with the return of the highly anticipated Scholars Contest. This annual writing competition invites high school students from the New York area to showcase their journalistic and writing skills for a chance to have their article published in the New York Post and on nypost.com and attend a Scholars Masterclass hosted at the New York Post’s office in NYC. The top three winners will also receive a bespoke college application strategy session with Command Education, a grant for their school, and an exclusive Discovery Day with our team of journalists.
High school students across the region are encouraged to submit their best unpublished work—whether an analysis of current events or a deeply personal story. Writers whose submissions are published will be invited to a special Scholars Masterclass at the New York Post office in NYC, where they will learn from top journalists and gain invaluable insights into the profession.
The top three honorees will be invited to attend an exclusive New York Post Discovery Day tailored to their interests and receive a personalized college prep strategy session with the experts at Command Education.
High schools with the largest number of student submissions will also receive a $2,500 grant!
“We are thrilled to continue inspiring a new generation of journalists,” said Keith Poole, Editor-in-Chief of the New York Post. “These young writers have a fresh perspective, and their creativity is truly something to be celebrated.
The New York Post will also award each of the top three winner’s schools with a $2,500 grant to benefit their school’s educational programs.
