Woop, woop—that’s the sound of the new Naked Gun movie racing onto to digital platforms this week to buy and rent at home.
Directed by Akiva Schaffer, who also co-wrote the script with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, The Naked Gun 2025 is a “legacy” sequel to the ‘80s spoof franchise starring Leslie Nielsen as a hapless detective named Frank Drebin. This time around, action star Liam Neeson stars as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., aka Frank Drebin’s son, while Pamela Anderson stars as his femme fatale love interest. Like his father, Frank Drebin Jr. is, well, a complete buffoon. But he believes he’s the finest cop LAPD has to offer. He doesn’t play by the rules!
Like the original franchise, The Naked Gun 2025 is full to the brim with silly jokes and visual gags. The film was well-received by critics and audiences alike, earning over $95.6 million at the worldwide box office so far. That’s a hit comedy! Now Paramount hopes to make even more money with the premium video-on-demand release. But before you spend $25 to watch the new Naked Gun movie at home, you should know we expect the 2025 Naked Gun to be streaming free on Paramount+ before the end of the year.

Beginning on Tuesday, September 2 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also September 1 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time) The Naked Gun will be available to buy digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie costs $24.99 to buy, and $19.99 to rent. If you rent the movie, you’ll have 48 hours to watch the movie after you hit “play.”
The Naked Gun is not yet streaming on any subscription streaming services, but we do expect to see The Naked Gun streaming on Paramount+ soon, because it is a Paramount movie.
Paramount+ offers two subscription plans. The ad-supported Essential plan costs $7.99/month, while the ad-free Premium plan (which comes with Showtime and live CBS) costs $12.99/month. New subscribers can take advantage of a seven-day free trial.
The Naked Gun 2025 Paramount+ streaming date has not yet been announced. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see The Naked Gun streaming on Paramount+ eventually, and we can make an educated as to when based on previous Paramount releases.
Another recent Paramount film, Novocaine was released on digital platforms one month after opening in theaters, and began streaming on Paramount+ about two months after opening in theaters. If The Naked Gun 2025 follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie streaming on Paramount+ around early October 2025.
But this is all speculation. If you want to watch the 2025 Naked Gun movie right away, you can buy or rent the film online.
