


Look, it’s true, when we get to talking about the Jets, we tend to lead with the lousy. We do. Part of that is that there’s simply so much more material available in that bucket than the other one. The Jets’ slapstick doesn’t just seem to be more vast than the glorious alternatives, it is.

And naturally, even that specific category doesn’t have only one memorable thing to draw upon: Back in 1986, the Jets visited the Dolphins on a Monday night, they got splattered 45-3, and before you knew it, 10-1 had become 10-6.
For Jets fans of a certain vintage “45-3” is tattooed in their brains.
