Who doesn’t love a wedding! The Season 2 finale of Bravo’s The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys will feature the matrimony of Jesse McBee and Alli McBee neé Ventresca. After 10 years of dating and a serious case of cold feet, Jesse and Alli finally walked down that aisle. Little did their guests know that Alli was pregnant during all the wedding festivities. “We put 99% of our life out there for the world to see, but this was something that we weren’t ready to share,” explained Jesse. Both Jesse and Alli didn’t want to take away from the impending birth of Cole McBee’s and Kacie Adkison’s daughter, Blair Collins. “We wanted them to have their moment,” said Alli.

Becoming husband and wife felt like just a “title change” to Jesse and Alli because, they both agreed, it was their beautiful daughter, Summer Leigh, who truly changed their relationship. “We both had to grow up a little bit,” said Jesse, noting that that the couple puts their daughter first. “When Summer came along, it changed us and only for the better,” agreed Alli. Luckily, Jesse’s big brother Steven McBee Jr., was always nearby to provide support. “It’s weird thing to see Steven just be all about the babies, but it’s cute, said Alli. “He’s taken to uncle life pretty good.”

Now, Jesse and Alli are enjoying time with their daughter and life on the farm, but their wedding was not without drama. In addition to Steven trying to get Jesse to make Alli sign a pre-nup or a post-nup—something which Jesse refused to do—McBee Farm & Cattle Co CFO Galyna Saltkovska angled for an invite, andafter receiving family matriarch Kristi McBee’s blessing, Jesse was happy to include Galyna in the big day. However, as is revealed by the season trailer, Galyna was pulled over by the police on her way to the wedding and taken to the station. “I think either Cole or Steven ended up telling me about Galyna after the ceremony when we were sitting down to eat,” remembered Jesse. “I didn’t know that anything was going on.”

Jesse and Alli jumped on a Zoom with DECIDER to discuss their wedding, parenthood, and that “pivotal point” in their relationship where everything changed.

DECIDER: First of all, congratulations on your wedding and your beautiful daughter. Have your found that your relationship has changed at all since tying the knot?

JESSE MCBEE: Our relationship didn’t change once we tied the knot, but it definitely changed when we had baby Summer. We’ve both had to grow up a little bit and make life changes. All of our focus is on Summer. She’s gotta come first now. I think Alli’s gotten a lot less sleep than she used to, but I’m still sleeping pretty good through the night [laughs].

ALLI MCBEE: We were together for 11 years before we got married. After the wedding, being husband and wife just felt like a title change. It was when Summer came along that we changed and only for the better. You learn a lot about each other when you have a baby, about what you can and can’t handle. It’s been great.

Alli, you made a big sacrifice for Jesse by agreeing to move to the family farm full time. How is it working out for you?

AM: It’s good. I had maternity leave for a while so I didn’t have to worry about the drive for a bit. However, I commuted back and forth from the farm to work for a year or so before we got our place in the city. It’s not bad to do it again. I don’t mind driving.

Jesse, you cried twice in last week’s episode about your anxiety leading up to the wedding, which surprised fans and your family. Can you talk about what led to your breakdown?

JM: I’m not a very open person, which I’m sure everybody knows from watching the first season. Also, I want to point out that the pollen count was really high the day I was crying in the combine harvester. I was just crying left and right and couldn’t stop [laughs]. What was really weighing on me was the fact that Alli was pregnant, which is something only she and I knew. We also just found out that we were having a girl. It was a lot and very overwhelming.

I usually hold my emotions in and I just had to let them out. I think I’ve only cried a few handful of times in my entire life. That was two of the handful. It was probably a good thing. It needed to happen. I had a lot of anxiety and pent up just emotions that I hadn’t let out. The cameras were there to capture it, fortunately or unfortunately.

Alli, it clearly meant so much to you that Jesse was able to acknowledge and express his feelings. Is that something that had previously been a pain point in your relationship?

AM: Clearly, he doesn’t talk a whole lot about his feelings. I was honored that he felt comfortable enough with me to try and talk out his emotions. It was a pivotal point in our relationship. We were getting married, you know? He finally opened up and told me what was going through his head. It was big for us. I hadn’t ever seen him cry either. That was a shocker to me, too.

Jesse, you mentioned that Alli was pregnant at this time. Was it difficult to keep information a secret between you two?

JM: Very much so. Imagine filming every day from sunup to sundown for three months straight and not ever breathing a word of it. It made the process really hard. We put 99% of our life out there for the world to see, but this was something that we weren’t ready to share. We already had our entire wedding put out there for the world to see. So, we’re like, let’s keep this to ourselves. We don’t want to take away from Cole’s and Kacie’s pregnancy. We wanted them to have their moment.

AM: That was the biggest thing for me. We had our engagement and wedding on camera. Having a baby was a huge turning point in Cole’s and Kacie’s relationship. We just wanted to be able to let them celebrate their pregnancy and their daughter, Blair.

That makes a lot of sense. What surprised you most about having your wedding filmed?

JM: I thought it was going to be stressful to have the cameras there, but it really wasn’t. They made sure that they were behind the scenes and not necessarily up in our faces the whole day. They just let us do our thing. Turns out, there was plenty of other drama going on that didn’t have anything to do with us.

Jesse, I’m glad you finally stood up to Steven about making Alli sign a pre/post nup. Did his explaining that it was something he wanted each brother to do—and that he had nothing against Alli—change your thinking at all?

JM: I completely understood where Steven was coming from. He’s trying to protect the business while also setting a standard for all of us. There are four of us boys. There are going to be at least that many marriages, maybe more [laughs]. From his point of view, it makes sense for the business. I wasn’t mad at him for saying that it needed to happen, but each situation is unique.

Steven was friends with Alli before I even knew her. She’s been a part of this family for more than a decade. So, I think that those facts should be enough to warrant that we did not need a prenup. She actually makes more money than I do too. If anything, I should have signed a prenup. That’s a joke we make all the time. I think Steven understands it now more so than he did on the day we had that initial conversation. We’ve all moved past it now.

I know initially you instilled a “no Russians” rule at your wedding, but you relented with Galyna. What made you change your mind? Was it ultimately Kristi’s blessing?

JM: It was my mother’s request more than anything because I didn’t want to put her in a weird position. Also, I didn’t really want to decide between Galyna and Masha. My mom thought the invite would mean a lot to Galyna, which I knew it would. Galyna has obviously done a lot for us and our family throughout the past few years.

From the previews, it seems like Galyna doesn’t make it to wedding Were you aware of any of that drama or did your wedding planner manage to shield you from that?

JM: I don’t think you knew.

AM: I didn’t know.

JM: I think either Cole or Steven ended up telling me about Galyna after the ceremony when we were sitting down to eat. That was the first time I heard about any of the drama. But other than that, I didn’t know anything that was going on.

Alli, were you aware that Steven invited his ex, Calah Jackson, to be his plus one?

AM: Yes, but it was a back and forth thing. Leading up to the wedding, Steven had asked us if we would be okay with her coming as his date. It was fine with me. We gave him a plus one, so he could have invited anyone. However, we never really got a clear answer as to whether she was or wasn’t coming. By the time the day came, it completely slipped my mind. I wasn’t worried about it at all [laughs].

Jesse, in the preview for tonight’s Season 2 finale, it looks like Steven finally tells you and Cole about the FBI investigation into your father. How did that conversation happen?

JM: Not very fluidly. It wasn’t really planned out. I think Steven had just been holding it in for so long that he just couldn’t do it any longer. He felt like he had to loop us in. Cole and I both wish he would have looped us in sooner so that we could have taken on that burden together. I think he realized there was there was no point in hiding it from us anymore and that we were going to become a part of it, no matter what.

Did you immediately tell Alli what happened?

JM: Not right away. When I did tell her, I tried not to go into many details. I wanted to shield her as much as I could during her pregnancy. Cole took the same approach with Kacie.

AM: I didn’t really know a whole lot about what was going on for a long time. Jesse was pretty private about that. I was there for him when all the details finally came out. Kacie and I have tried to provide support for Jesse and Cole. We want them to be able to talk about stuff and how they’re feeling. We’re getting through this as a family.

It’s clear how much you all lean on each other. I do want to ask: What is Steven like as an uncle to both Summer and Blair?

AM: He’s great. It’s weird thing to see Steven just be all about the babies, but it’s cute, you know? It’s definitely made me think a little bit differently about Steven. He’s taken to uncle life pretty good.

JM: Not dad life. There’s a big difference in spending a couple hours with your nieces and having to go home and change their diapers or wipe the spit up.

What can you tease about the Season 2 finale?

JM: I would say expect the unexpected.

AM: Just be ready for anything and everything.

JM: We always come with surprises, so I’m sure there’ll be a few in there.
