Calling all Ali Hazelwood fans — Lili Reinhart has taken the reins as the star and executive producer of the film adaptation of Hazelwood’s New York Times bestselling novel The Love Hypothesis, Deadline exclusively reports. The new Amazon MGM Studios romcom will follow Olive Smith, a biology PhD candidate who enters a fake relationship with tyrannical professor Dr. Adam Carlsen. Along the way, the pair’s growing feelings for each other test their theories on love and relationships.

Best known for starring as Betty in the CW drama Riverdale, Reinhart steps aboard the project after winning the Series Mania’s Best Actress Award for her starring role in Hal & Harper on Mubi. She also produced the series, adding to her long list of double-duty credits as film star and producer. Other works Reinhart has starred in and executive produced include Prime Video’s Chemical Hearts and Netflix’s Look Both Ways. She also executive produced the Oscar nominated short film Invincible.

On the movie adaptation of The Love Hypothesis, Reinhart will be teaming up with Hazelwood and Catherine Hagedorn on the executive producing front, with Set It Up director Claire Scanlon directing and Charlie’s Angels producer Elizabeth Cantillon set to produce. Reinhart will also be starring alongside Tom Bateman, who has been highly lauded for his role in the 2017 film adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express.

Fans aren’t the only ones hyped up for the new film. In a statement released alongside the project’s announcement, Hazelwood shares her excitement about The Love Hypothesis and the all-star team in front of and behind the camera:

“Honestly, I still can’t believe this is happening? Elizabeth Cantillon, Claire Scanlon, and Lili Reinhart have all created, produced, or starred in works that I’m absolutely feral about, and I am beyond honored that they’re choosing to bring their talent to this project. Books and films are very different media, and I have complete trust in this brilliant team. I cannot wait to see the final product they’ll come up with. I hope they have as much fun filming as I had while writing the book.”
