During spring training, Clay Holmes said he would reassess where he was as a starter after his first five outings before making any significant adjustments in how his transition back into a rotation was going. 

Now seven starts in, it’s fair to say Holmes certainly looks the part after not having started a game since his rookie season in 2018 with Pittsburgh. 

“I think at this point, it’s starting to become a little bit more natural, and I think with the adjustment period, I’ve got enough starts under my belt where it’s like, ‘You know what? This is starting to flow more.’ … I’m starting to feel more like a starter and settling in a little bit.” 

The Mets would agree.
