Aaron Glenn doesn’t blink in the face of history: The Jets’ suffocating 14-year playoff drought, that agonizing 56-year-and-counting Super Bowl drought.

His mission from Day 1 has been rallying a shell-shocked franchise to believe with him that they are the Freakin’ New York Jets, and they’re built for this.

The laser-focused Glenn will only put stock in the here and now and doesn’t give a damn about what happens in Pittsburgh or anywhere else outside Florham Park, but he should be heartened to know that there is history on his side as well.

Every rookie coach arrives talking about sustained success, and too many of them fail. But it doesn’t preclude catching lightning in a bottle as a novice.
