More of The Hunting Wives? Say less!
At long last, the sexy Netflix drama based on May Cobb’s 2021 novel has landed a Season 2 renewal.
In a statement released by the streamer on Friday, series creator and showrunner Rebecca Cutter said, “I’m so excited to write these amazing characters again, and I can’t wait to take the audience on another sexy, twisted, batshit crazy ride through Maple Brook.”
Series stars Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman also broke the news in a video that Netflix dropped on social media on Friday.
“Pack your boots and load your guns. We’re going back to Maple Brook for Season 2, baby!” Akerman teased at the end of the video, which you can check out below.
According to the streamer, Season 2 will begin with Snow’s Sophie and Akerman’s Margo being “on the outs.”
“But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together,” the Hunting Wives Season 2 logline continues. “As they play their dangerous games the question arises. Are they the hunters or the hunted?”
Before a second season was officially announced, Cutter told DECIDER where she hoped to take the show if given the greenlight for a second season, noting that “the heart of the show is Sophie and Margo.”
“This is my second murder mystery show, and there’s always at least 1 or 2 threads that run through,” she explained at the time. “In this show, to me, Season 1 was: Where are Margo and Sophia at in their trajectory, and where are we at in the murder mystery? You need both things firing on all cylinders to keep people locked in. So I have a lot in my mind for Season 2 about Sophie and Margo, also about some murder stuff. And then there’s a reality show on the horizon, maybe some new people come to town. Maybe there’s some new troubles that arise. We have our two wonderful cop characters, Salazar and Flynn. So there’s a lot stewing in my brain right now for Season 2.”
The series’ Season 2 cast is rounded out by Jamie Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, and George Ferrier.
Season 1 of The Hunting Wives is streaming on Netflix.
