NextImg:The Harris-Walz ticket’s socialist agenda: Letters to the Editor — Aug. 9, 2024

The Issue: Criticisms of the Harris-Walz 2024 Democratic presidential ticket.

The Democratic lineup is now complete for the November election (“How Tim & Kam set us alight,” Aug. 8).

In Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, Vice President Kamala Harris found a radical who might even be more left than she is.

After the riots following the murder of George Floyd, Walz didn’t seem to care that his state’s largest city was being destroyed.

As Nero fiddled while Rome burned, so did Walz in Minneapolis.

The new Democratic slogan should be: Harris-Walz — Make America Burn Again.

Harris and Walz are made for each other.

He watched Minneapolis burn and she started a fund to bail out the people who set it on fire.

Voters have a choice: Harris and Waltz vs. former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance. Essentially, it is socialism vs. capitalism.

If you believe in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights or Declaration of Independence, if you value the rule of law, a secure border, low inflation and low crime, the choice is simple: Vote Trump and Vance.

While Harris’ party is attempting to relabel her as a centrist, her selection of Walz as her running mate removed all doubt as to her intention to transform all of America into the type of cesspool that she and Walz helped turn their respective home states into.

Should these two somehow take over the White House in the upcoming election, their radical left-wing agenda will further divide a nation which is already dangerously polarized as they threaten to implement socialism as our new economic system.

If these two come into power, they will destroy our country by abandoning the principles we were founded on and imposing their own warped ideology.

I hope that people understand the importance of this election and educate themselves on the policies their chosen candidate will set forth as president.

I believe it is erroneous and foolish for Republicans and great journalists like Michael Goodwin to continue calling Democrats far-left or progressives (“Hitting us with 2 left schnooks,” Aug. 7).

They are no longer Democrats — no longer the party of JFK or Harry Truman or even Lyndon Johnson, for that matter.

They now should be referred to as the Socialist Party of America.

Donald Trump and JD Vance should cut out Miranda Devine’s article and keep it for any talking points they might need when coming to define Harris and Walz (“Wacko duplicity of Weirdo Walz,” Aug 8).

In labeling Walz as the real weirdo, Devine has pointed out just who the Harris pick for veep is, and what he will be if elected.

Well done, Devine.

You should be working on the Republican campaign for the presidency.

Thanks for signing up!

Ever since Harris chose Walz as her running mate, my social media feed has been filled with ecstatic, celebratory posts from leftists.

It seems a little over the top.

Walz was chosen to “balance” the Democratic ticket.

From this perspective, because Harris is a black woman from a liberal city, her running mate should be a white man from a rural area.

Whether or not this was politically necessary, that was the thinking.

I think there’s also an appreciation of Walz as a warm, genuine personality.

Politics is — at a certain level — a popularity contest.
