Get those stretchy blue jumpsuits read, because the new Fantastic Four movie is coming to digital platforms to buy and rent this weekend.
The 2025 Fantastic Four movie, aka The Fantastic Four: First Steps, was directed by Matt Shakman and written by Josh Friedman, Eric Pearson, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer, based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name. Pedro Pascal takes the lead as the stretchy Mr. Fantastic himself, while Vanessa Kirby stars as Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach stars as the voice of The Thing, and Joseph Quinn stars as Human Torch. Other supporting cast include Julia Garner, Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson.
Rather than an origin story, this Fantastic Four movie finds our team of superheroes already together in a parallel universe, where it’s kinda, sorta the 1960s. The Fantastic Four: First Steps was a box office hit, earning over $519 million at the worldwide box office. Now, Disney hopes to make even more money with the premium video-on-demand release of the movie. But before you drop $30 to watch the new Fantastic Four at home, you should know that we expect to see The Fantastic Four: First Steps streaming on Disney+ before the end of the year.
Beginning on Tuesday, September 23 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also September 22 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time), The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be available to buy digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie costs $29.99 to buy, and $24.99 to rent.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps will also be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on October 14. The DVD and digital release will come with deleted scenes, making-of featurettes, cast interviews, a gag reel, audio commentary with director Matt Shakman and production designer Kasra Farahani, and more. (Bonus features may vary, depending on the product and which service you use to purchase the film.)
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is not yet streaming on any subscription streaming services, but we do expect to see The Fantastic Four: First Steps streaming on Disney+ soon.
Disney+ offers a number of subscription options, so you can find the one that works for you. With ads, a subscription costs $9.99/month; without ads, it’s $15.99/month or $159.99/year.
There are also Disney+ bundles with Hulu, Max, and ESPN+, so you can subscribe to up to three services at once and save over 40% every month. The bundles are available in a few different configurations, starting at $10.99/month for Disney+ and Hulu with ads, and going up to $29.99/month for Disney+, Hulu, and Max ad-free.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps will likely stream on Disney+ in the next month-and-a-half or so, because it is a Disney movie. All the new Disney theatrical movies end up streaming on Disney+, often about four to six months after opening in theaters.
Another recent Disney Marvel movie, Thunderbolts, was released on premium video-on-demand about two months after opening in theaters, and began streaming on Disney+ about three-and-a-half months after opening in theaters. If The Fantastic Four: First Steps follows a similar release strategy, you may see The Fantastic Four: First Steps streaming on Disney+ around mid-November 2025.
But this is all speculation. If you want to see The Fantastic Four: First Steps ASAP, you can buy or rent the movie on digital starting tomorrow.
