As the Jets and Packers continue to take their time hammering out trade negotiations for Aaron Rodgers, Odell Beckham continues to lay in the weeds of NFL free agency.
Over two weeks ago, Rodgers reportedly listed Beckham as someone on his “wish list” to join him with the Jets following the deal that is still hanging in the balance.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano recently noted that the Jets are Beckham’s most likely landing spot, and according to colleague Rich Cimini, Jets officials “weren’t shy” regarding their interest in bringing in Beckham.
Beckham, according to the report, is “thought to be seeking a one-year deal for $15 million.”
It’s noteworthy given that the two-time All-Pro receiver — which he hasn’t been that caliber of player since 2016 — hasn’t played since Super Bowl 2022, when he tore his ACL while playing with the Rams.
The Post’s Brian Costello reported last week that during the NFL meetings the Jets and Beckham had a “very informal” get-together as they just chatted in the hotel courtyard.
Such a deal would make Beckham, 30, the 23rd-highest-paid NFL receiver based on average salary, according to Spotrac, just ahead of fellow Jets wideout Corey Davis.
ESPN notes that a deal in the $10 million to $12 million range “seems more likely,” with incentives potentially bringing Beckham’s deal closer to his reportedly desired number.
Spotrac lists 32 receivers in the league who make at least $10 million on average.
For his career, Beckham has caught 531 passes for 7,367 yards and 56 receiving touchdowns.
