Looking for horror movies to watch now that it’s finally October? Look no further, because The Conjuring: Last Rites, aka The Conjuring 4, is coming to digital platforms to buy and rent tomorrow.
Directed by Michael Chaves, with a screenplay written by Ian Goldberg, this is the ninth—and supposedly final—movie in the Conjuring franchise, and the fourth Conjuring movie starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as the real-life paranormal investigators/con artists Ed and Lorraine Warren. It serves as a direct sequel to 2021 The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, also directed by Chaves, and will feature the Warrens taking on one last supernatural case that will “end it all.” Mia Tomlinson also stars as Judy Warren, Ed and Lorraine’s daughter, while Ben Hardy play Tony Spera, Judy’s boyfriend.
Like most of the Conjuring films, Last Rites was a hit at the box office, earning over $458 million worldwide, making the highest-grossing film in the series. Now, Warner Bros. hopes to make even more money with the premium digital release. But if you’re not jazzed about spending $25 to watch the new Conjuring movie at home, then you should know that we expect to see The Conjuring: Last Rites streaming on HBO Max before the end of the year.
The Conjuring: Last Rites will be available to buy or rent on digital platforms on Tuesday, October 7 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, October 6). You’ll be able to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $24.99 to buy, and $19.99 to rent. If you rent the movie, you’ll have 48 hours to view after hitting “play.”
The Conjuring: Last Rites will also release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on November 25. Both the digital and physical releases of the movie will come with special features, including the following featurettes: “Last Rites: An Era Ends,” “The Conjuring: Crafting Scares,” and “Michael Chaves: Believer.”
Additionally, a four-film collection featuring the four Conjuring films and a nine-film collection featuring the entire Conjuring universe will be available on digital on October 7. The four-film collection will also be available on Blu-ray and DVD on November 25.
The Conjuring: Last Rites is not yet available on a subscription-based streaming service, but we do expect to see the The Conjuring: Last Rites movie streaming on HBO Max, free to HBO Max subscribers eventually, because The Conjuring: Last Rites is a Warner Bros. movie, and HBO Max is the streamer owned by Warner Bros.
If you’re new to HBO Max, you can sign up for as low as $9.99/month with ads, but an ad-free subscription will cost $16.99/month. If you subscribe via Prime Video, you can also take advantage of a seven-day free trial.
If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the discounted Disney+ Bundles with Hulu and HBO Max. With ads, the bundle costs $16.99/month and without ads, $29.99/month.
The Conjuring: Last Rites HBO Max streaming release date on has not yet been announced yet, but we can make an educated guess based on previous releases. Final Destination: Bloodlines, another New Line/WB horror movie, was released on PVOD about one month after opening in theaters, and began streaming on Max a little under three months after it was released in theaters. If The Conjuring: Last Rites follows a similar release pattern, you may see the movie streaming on Max around late November 2025. Of course, Warner Bros may want to speed up the HBO release for spooky season, so it’s possible you’ll see The Conjuring: Last Rites streaming on HBO Max even earlier.
But that’s pure speculation. The Warner Bros. home releases have varied by title. In the meantime, you can always watch The Conjuring: Last Rites by buying or renting the movie online.
