NextImg:The case for buying a cheap, little umbrella stroller after Prime Day

What’s wrong with a little, cheap stroller?

Don’t get me wrong. I love strutting around the city with my Peg Perego Veloce and compatible car seat. It’s called the Fiat 500 for a reason — excellent tire traction, easy gliding, and well… it just looks like luxury. In the same light, I can’t stop raving about the Graco Travel System. It safely escorted my daughter and me across the country.

These big, fancy strollers are undoubtedly worth the investment, especially when you can score them on sale during Prime Day. But now that Prime Day is over, I’ve been toying with the idea of another. Something different — lighter, slimmer, easier to chuck into the back of a taxi. To boot — the new stroller in question costs less than a container of baby formula. I’m talking about this little, cheap Cocomelon Umbrella Stroller that’s currently on sale for just $30.

It’s not lined with leather accents, equipped with a cup-holder, or stashed with various storage pockets — but it is so, darn simple — and as a parent sometimes practicality is exactly what you need. It weighs five pounds. You can carry it with one hand. You don’t have to mess with multiple levers or attempt any awkward, push-pull movement to get it to fold. Plus, it’s so compact that you could throw it in a drawer or underneath a bed. This is the stroller you need, especially if you’re a city parent.

Besides, now that my daughter is turning into a toddler — she is constantly attempting to eject herself from her big stroller and walk on her own. The fact that the Cocomelon carriage is so close to the ground eases some of my fears. Pretty soon, she’ll be able to wobble right out of it, throw a doll in it, and push it herself.

I’ve read the Amazon reviews, and I’ve been influenced. Perhaps, I’m not a big fancy stroller mom after all.

“My son has a seven-month-old baby boy. Gifts included a big, nice, clumsy, heavy stroller,” wrote one Amazon reviewer. “I’m a mom of five, strolled all my babies, in an umbrella stroller. No muss, no fuss, lightweight, and wheels turn easy. I’m close to 70 now, and ordered this quick after using their stroller! I could barely push it! Great buy and happy baby and Grandma!”

The Cocomelon Umbrella Stroller might be small, but it’s still equipped with an excellent range of features; a three-point safety belt, removable canopy, and top-tap locking breaks so it stays in place when parked. Not to mention, kids love the design — it’s inspired by the iconic nursery rhymes played in Cocomelon.

If you’re not sold Cocomelon, you can also shop little, cheap Monster Jam or Disney-themed stroller designs as alternatives.
