Kate Micucci has updated fans on her recent lung cancer diagnosis and surgery. According to People, The Big Bang Theory actress took to TikTok on Saturday (Dec. 9) to break her health news, greeting viewers by saying, “this is not a TikTok, it’s a ‘SickTok.'”
“I’m in the hospital, but it’s because I had lung cancer surgery yesterday,” she clarified.
Highlighting that doctors caught her disease “pretty early,” she noted that her diagnosis is “pretty weird” because she’s “never smoked a cigarette in [her] life.”
“It was a surprise, but also, I guess it happens,” she continued. “And so the greatest news is they caught it early, they got it out, I’m all good.”
While it’s “been a little bit of a trip,” Micucci said she’ll “probably be moving slow for a few weeks” as she recovers, noting that she “can’t wait to be painting more.”
“Why am I still talking? Because I’m on drugs,” she joked.
The video continued on a more lighthearted note, featuring a clip of her taking a lap around the hospital while wheeling around her IV drip and complimenting the artwork. She ultimately concluded with a picture of her smiling in her hospital bed, Frosted Flakes and banana in hand.
Outside of the eight Big Bang Theory episodes Micucci appeared in as Lucy, she has also held recurring roles in TV shows such as Raising Hope and Steven Universe, among many others, per IMDb.
