NextImg:The best cleansers for every skin need, according to celebrities

While stars have access to potions and procedures aplenty, not all their skincare secrets require a high budget or an A-list doc.

Plenty of famous folks start their routine off simple with a classic cleanser — a skincare step dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe tells Page Six Style people often “underestimate the power” of.

Below, rinse and repeat with the cleansing formulas famous folks swear by, from Jenna Lyons’ luxe exfoliating find to Hailey Bieber’s drugstore favorite.

Cetaphil

Pros:

Cons:

While Cetaphil’s classic cleanser rings in at under $15, it’s racked up scores of famous fans. Julianne Moore told Vogue she uses the face wash — designed for sensitive, normal to oily skin — as part of her routine, as she needed a product she can “get all over the world” due to her travel schedule.

Megan Thee Stallion and Gigi Hadid also praised its powers to Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, respectively, with the latter saying: “Whenever I’m working a lot, or I’m wearing a lot of makeup, or I’m coming from a shoot, I use Cetaphil because I just feel like it really cleans my skin.”

Page Six Style’s review: “I’ve been using Cetaphil ever since my dermatologist recommended it. It’s been a good fit for my sensitive skin, and the bottle lasts me such a long time (even with nightly use).” — Hannah Southwick, Page Six Commerce Writer

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser
La Roche-Posay

Pros:

Cons:

From reality TV royalty to real-life royals, plenty of stars swear by this cleanser created for normal and dry skin types. Meghan Markle featured it in ShopMy curation of her beauty favorites in spring 2025, while Kyle Richards called it a “great cleanser” on Amazon Live.

“This is a very popular brand and there’s a reason for that,” the “RHOBH” OG added.

WNBA star Angel Reese featured the same formula in her Vogue “Beauty Secrets” video, while Keke Palmer’s partial to the drugstore brand’s Mela B3 Cleanser.

Shani Darden Cleansing Serum
Shani Darden

Pros:

Cons:

As a celebrity esthetician, Shani Darden’s no stranger to working with famous faces. Her clients range from Shay Mitchell and Jessica Alba to Jennifer Aniston, the latter of whom is a fan of her retinol.

So it’s no surprise that this oil-and-serum combo has found famous fans like Rita Ora, who praised “my girl Shani” in a Vogue video saying, “This is giving clean; I’m here for it.”

La La Anthony told Vogue she discovered the foaming formula from Kelly Rowland, who is “obsessed” with it.

Dr. Barbara Sturm Enzyme Cleanser
Dr. Barbara Sturm

Pros:

Cons:

While this cleanser comes out of the bottle as a powder, it transforms into a foaming face wash when mixed with water. Serena Williams told Vogue she typically uses two or three pumps of the stuff, saying, “I like how she makes things for darker skin tones.”

Emma Roberts told the same outlet she uses it once a week as part of her “full luxurious face routine,” while Victoria Beckham raved about it in a Glamour interview.

“It’s delicate enough to use daily; with the powder formula, a little goes a long way,” the Spice Girls star said.

iS Clinical Cleansing Complex
iS Clinical

Pros:

Cons:

When it comes to banishing breakouts, this 3-in-1 toning, cleansing and exfoliating face wash is somewhat of a breakout star in Hollywood. Meghann Fahy told Vogue it’s “really gentle and super non-drying” for her “sometimes adult acne,” while Zoey Deutch told the same outlet it’s “literally the only cleanser I can use that doesn’t make me break out.”

It also plays a role in Millie Bobby Brown’s date-night beauty routine, as she plugged it in her own “Beauty Secrets” breakdown.

“I love this especially if I’m about to break out it dries out.. any active acne I have on my face,” the “Stranger Things” actress explained.

CeraVe Moisturizing Non-Foaming Face Wash
CeraVe

Pros:

Cons:

Long before selling her own beauty brand for a billion dollars, Hailey Bieber gave this drugstore beauty classic a shoutout.

“It’s an OG, a forever go-to brand for me,” she told the Cut in 2023.

She’s not alone in her love for CeraVe; Conan Gray washed his “really sensitive skin” with this cleanser in a Vogue video, while Olivia Wilde had a bottle on her bathroom counter in a 2023 mirror selfie.

Page Six Style’s review: “My dermatologist recommended this for my dry, sensitive skin years ago, and I still use it to this day. I’d recommend pairing it with a micellar water or gentle makeup remover if you wear waterproof eyeliner or mascara, but it’s an overall wonderful cleanser that won’t strip your skin and leaves it feeling clean and soft. Plus, the price is right; I’m morally opposed to paying more than $20 or $25 for a cleanser.” — Elana Fishman, Page Six Style & Shopping Director

Tata Harper Regenerative Cleanser
Tata Harper

Pros:

Cons:

Designed to buff “dull, uneven or congested skin,” this luxe formula does double duty as cleanser and exfoliator. Emma Roberts told the Kit she uses it when she wants to “go a little deeper” with her skincare, while Jenna Lyons told Goop it’s how she melts off her makeup at night.

Youth To The People Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser
Youth To The People

Pros:

Cons:

From cold-pressed antioxidants to kale and spinach, this cleanser shares several ingredients with green juice. Tyla and Kaia Gerber both use it as the first step of their beauty routines, with the latter telling Vogue she uses it “morning and night.”

Dermatologist and skincare founder Dr. Whitney Bowe tells us she advises cleansing your skin both day and night, as the first step of your skincare routine.

“As a dermatologist, I know that your cleanser sets the stage for all of your other skincare products and ingredients,” explains Bow, who recently formulated her own Bowe Glowe Cleanser to remove “unwanted debris from the skin surface and deep within the pores.”

Dr. Sandy Skotnicki, board-certified dermatologist and “Skin To It” podcast host, tells us she typically uses Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water in the morning followed by cleanser at night. (“Over-cleansing can disrupt the skin’s natural barrier, so it’s important to tailor the routine to individual skin needs,” she explains.)

Her favorites also include Three Ships Harmony Microbiome Balancing Cleanser — a “minimalist” product she helped formulate — and Cetaphil’s Gentle Foaming Cleanser.

Both dermatologists recommend shopping for cleanser based on your skin type and individual concerns.

“When it comes to cleansers, formulation matters,” adds Bowe. “If your cleanser is too strong, it will not only remove dirt, debris and makeup, but it will also wash away your skin’s natural lipids.”
