Talk about timely: The Donald Trump movie, The Apprentice, is coming to premium video-on-demand this weekend, just a few days before the 2024 presidential election, and just three weeks after the movie opened in theaters.
That said, this movie isn’t about the Trump currently running for president—it’s about the former president’s early career as a businessman and New York celebrity in the ’70s and ’80s. Directed by Ali Abbasi, with a script by Gabriel Sherman, The Apprentice stars Captain America‘s Sebastian Stan as a young Trump. The movie also stars Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn, Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump, Martin Donovan as Fred Trump Sr., Catherine McNally as Mary Anne Trump, Charlie Carrick as Fred Trump Jr., Jason Blicker as George Steinbrenner, and Mark Rendall as Roger Stone.
If you didn’t catch the movie in theaters, now is your chance to watch The Apprentice at home. Read on to learn about where to watch The Apprentice online, and what we know about if and when The Apprentice will be streaming.
Beginning on Friday, November 1 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time—which is also October 31 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time—The Apprentice movie will be available to purchase on digital platforms like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Vudu, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon, The Apprentice costs $24.99 to buy on digital.
The Apprentice will also be released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 17, 2024, according to the Amazon landing page for the film.
For now, The Apprentice is not streaming on Netflix, or any other subscription-based streaming service. The Apprentice is not a Netflix original, nor is it a big studio movie. It’s a small, independent film being distributed by Briarcliff Entertainment, and therefore does not have a given streaming home.
That said, another Briarcliff Entertainment movie, The Hill, did eventually stream on Netflix, about five months after it opened in theaters, so it is possible you’ll see The Apprentice on Netflix in about five months, around February 2025. But many other Briarcliff Entertainment movies never streamed on Netflix. There’s not enough data for an accurate prediction at this time.
In the meantime, if you want to watch The Apprentice right away, you can buy the film on digital beginning tomorrow.
