More than 20 years after it first premiered, The Simple Life starring early aughts icons Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie is finally returning for a long-awaited reboot special. That’s hot.
In a new teaser released by Peacock today, Hilton and Richie hold opera auditions in a big empty auditorium, where the longtime BFFs interrupt an opera singer and ask her to change the words of her song to none other than their iconic “Sanasa” catchphrase, which was made famous in the original series.
The three-episode reunion special, titled Paris & Nicole: The Encore, will drop on Peacock on Thursday, Dec. 12.
The Simple Life, which aired for five seasons between 2003 and 2007, plucked Hilton and Richie from their glamorous lifestyles in Beverly Hills and dropped them in the middle of Arkansas to live with a farm family and work blue-collar jobs.
The stars first confirmed the reboot special earlier this year, with Deadline reporting that they will reunite with the family they stayed with in Season 1 in Altus, Arkansas.
“It was such an important part of pop-culture history and has really shaped this industry in so many ways and inspired so many others,” Hilton said in a September interview with Nylon, referring to the original series. “And now we’re coming back to celebrate this again. I’m so excited about Paris & Nicole: The Encore.”
The new show promises more “fun, chaos, and epic one-liners,” according to a press release provided to DECIDER, which also notes that the gals will “bring fans up to speed on their lives and friendship in a way that only true legends can.”
Hilton further teased the reboot in an Instagram video.
“So basically, Nicole and I are planning something iconic, fun. It’s going to be epic,” she said in the July post, before adding, “That show was so special. The best memories ever. It’s such a huge part of our life and we love our fans so much so we wanted you guys to be a part of this.”
