Danny Masterson has been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for rape, TMZ reports. The former That ’70s Show star was sentenced today in Los Angeles after being found guilty on two of three counts of rape in May during a retrial case.
The actor had previously been charged with raping three women between the years of 2001 and 2003. His first trial, which took place in November 2022, ended with a mistrial, while Masterson was convicted of raping two women in his second trial earlier this year.
After the two women Masterson was convicted of raping gave statements about their traumatic experiences, the actor was sentenced by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo this afternoon.
One woman, identified as a Jane Doe, said, “When you raped me, you stole from me. That’s what rape is, a theft of the spirit,” per Los Angeles news outlet KTLA.
She added, “You are pathetic, disturbed and completely violent. The world is better off with you in prison.”
The second woman Masterson was convicted of raping said he “has not shown an ounce of remorse for the pain he caused,” continuing, “I knew he belonged behind bars for the safety of all the women he came into contact with. I am so sorry, and I’m so upset. I wish I’d reported him sooner to the police,” per KTLA.

Masterson was convicted of raping the women in his Hollywood home; all three Jane Does were members of the Church of Scientology at the time, which Masterson is also a member of. The women said they were reluctant to report Masterson’s crimes to police because of the church, and said they were told by the church that they had not been raped when they shared accusations of assault against Masterson with Scientology officials, per KTLA.
While Masterson had been accused of rape for years before his 2020 charges, the claims against him grew louder in 2017 after actress and former Scientology member Lea Remini accused the LAPD of covering up rape allegations because of his role in the church.
Masterson was fired from his role on Netflix‘s The Ranch in December 2017, which he starred on alongside former That ’70s Show co-star Ashton Kutcher. He was replaced on the series with Dax Shepard.
