The New Jersey Devils, Seton Hall Pirates and New York Sirens won’t be the only athletes taking center stage at Prudential Center this year.

On Sunday, Dec. 7, tennis will be played at the famed Newark venue for the first time when the inaugural ‘A Racquet at the Rock’ event swings into town.

And, to ring in the occasion, Prudential Center is bringing in some of the biggest names of the game.

No. 2-ranked Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and No. 17 Frances Tiafoe (U.S.) represent the men while No. 9 Amanda Anisimova (U.S.) and No. 36 Emma Raducanu (Great Britain) will compete on the women’s side.

“It is always a lot of fun to be on the court with Frances- we love to compete against each other, and I can’t wait to put on a great show for the fans in Newark,” Alcaraz, 22, said. “To play again in the metropolitan area with all the amazing fans, it’s something special. They bring such unique energy, and they love tennis so much. I’m looking forward to December 7 at Prudential Center, it will be a special night of great tennis.”

Anisimova, a New Jersey native born in Freehold Township, is just as excited.

“It’s a special feeling to return to the place where my tennis dreams first began,” the 24-year-old said. “I am looking forward to playing against one of the best players in the world in Emma and having the
opportunity to do so in my original home state of New Jersey. It will be an incredible celebration
of tennis on December 7 at the inaugural ‘A Racquet at The Rock.’”

In addition to ‘A Racquet at the Rock,’ both players quoted above are currently still alive in the 2025 U.S. Open semifinals.

Alcaraz plays Novak Djokovic at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday, Sept. 5; as for Anisimova, she goes head-to-head against Naomi Osaka on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Now that’s pedigree for Prudential Center’s tennis debut.

Fans can purchase tickets for ‘A Racquet at the Rock’ on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale is Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.
