Police are investigating a wild chase in Queens that ended with two teens slamming their motorbike into a parked car as cops chased them, the NYPD said.
The drama unfolded Friday at 4:30 p.m. near Franklin Avenue and Bowne Street in Flushing after officers attempted to stop the motorbike for an unknown reason but the driver sped off, the NYPD said.
While traveling east on Franklin Avenue towards Bowne Street, the driver “failed to navigate the roadways and collided with a parked unoccupied gray SUV,” an NYPD spokesman said.
The 16-year-old operator suffered head trauma and was initially transported by EMS to New York-Presbyterian Queens in stable condition, but later moved to New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition, the spokesman said.
The 14-year-old motorbike passenger sustained cuts and bruises to his hand and was transported to New York-Presbyterian Queens in stable condition, the spokesman said. The officers were not hurt.
The NYPD spokesman would not say what precipitated the pursuit or why the cops stopped the motorbike. “The investigation is ongoing,” he said, adding, “There are no arrests at this time.”
In a 19-second clip obtained by The Post, three people are looking down the block when seconds later the motorbike slams into the SUV, and the two riders are thrown from the vehicle. Four plainclothes cops following in two unmarked cars jump out of their vehicles and one officer tends to an individual who isn’t moving while the other cops run down the block.
