A teenager was gunned down on the Lower East Side early Sunday, marking the second time in as many weekends that someone was shot in the bustling Manhattan neighborhood.
The 18-year-old man was shot in the neck in front of a deli on the corner of Rivington Street and Pitt Street at around 12:50 a.m., police said.
The teen was brought to New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His name was not immediately released and it remained unclear if he was killed in a targeted attack or a random shooting, police said.
Last Sunday morning at around 3 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in the head and midsection at Stanton Street and Orchard Street, yards from many popular nightlife venues, police said.
That victim was said to be in critical condition.
No arrests had been made in either incidents.
