A hotshot Norwegian hockey player was severely injured when an opposing player’s skate cut through his jersey and skin one month after former Pittsburgh Penguins Adam Johnson was killed on the ice.

Jonas Nyhus Myhre’s chest was reportedly sliced open during a hockey game between Lörenskog and Storhamar last Thursday — leaving the 19-year-old player hospitalized, according to reports.

He told Swedish outlet Aftonbladet the injury felt like getting kicked hard, though he tried to keep playing through it.

Myhre explained to the outlet he had so much adrenaline that he didn’t feel it within the first few minutes, but then the pain set in.

His teammates were shocked when they saw a giant gash across his chest after he lifted his jersey after he became concerned, the outlet reported.

The muscle and skin had to be sewn back together by doctors.

Myhre’s injury comes after Johnson, an American hockey player, was killed when his neck was slashed by an opposing player’s skate during a game more than a month ago. The 29-year-old was playing for the Nottingham Panthers on Oct. 28 during an Elite Ice Hockey League contest.

Defenseman Matt Petgrave was the other player involved in the incident.

English police announced an arrest last month on suspicion of manslaughter in connection to the death but did not announce who was arrested due to UK laws.
