“Challenge” accepted. During Sunday night’s SAG Awards, host Kristen Bell was interrupted by her former The Good Place co-stars Ted Danson and William Jackson Harper with what Danson deemed an “important” matter.
“During the clip package — your name’s William, right?” he teased to Harper, who was sitting next to him. “William said you told him that he was your favorite co-star.”
Harper retorted, “Look, man, I’m just telling him what you told me in Paris.”
Danson replied, “Paris? Oh, come on! That was our city!”
In an effort to settle the silly dispute, Bell took a seat between the two actors, ultimately declaring, “this is not a challenge.”
After locking eyes with each other, Danson and Harper both said in unison, “Yes, it is,” as they began to lean in toward each other for a passionate makeout sesh.
Bell immediately stood up to block the two actors before viewers could see any PDA (but we still saw plenty of movement behind her), as she proceed to introduce presenters Andrew Scott and Quinta Brunson.

The three actors cleverly paid homage to the 2024 tennis drama Challengers, mirroring a scene between Mike Faist, Zendaya, and Josh O’Connor. While the Luca Guadagnino-directed film is not up for any awards at tonight’s ceremony, Danson was up for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his starring role in A Man on the Inside. The award ultimately went to Martin Short for Only Murders in the Building.
Nonetheless, the bit proved to be a heartwarming, albeit hilarious reunion for the stars of the NBC sitcom, which wrapped its run in 2020.
The SAG Awards are streaming live on Netflix.
