Vanessa Lachey became emotional on a recent episode of The Ultimatum as she opened up about her relationship with Nick Lachey.

The co-hosts shared an emotional moment with the couples as she explained how they built up their trust over the course of their relationship.

“Nick and I have been together for 16 years and we know each other,” she said as she began to grow emotional. “Married for 11. But it’s so funny that for some reason we don’t learn more about each other until we’re in, like, a therapy session.”

She continued, “We do not need to get into this, but it messes with your relationship. And the reason why I’m choking up is because I’ve had to get through so much shit to be the best woman for Nick. To find that person, that I can trust and that can carry me through, is what made us unstoppable.”

The couple have co-hosted The Ultimatum since the Netflix series premiered in 2022 after co-hosting Love is Blind for three seasons. The reality dating show puts a group of couples to the test by pairing them up with other potential love interests to help them decide if they want to get married or break up.

Vanessa had some advice to share with the couples about what it takes to make an “unstoppable” relationship.

“It’s so freeing to tell everything to them and them still be there to pick you up. It’s really beautiful,” she said. “And if they don’t, which I’ve had other guys who [have done] that, and they’re not the guy I married.”

The Netflix host has previously spoken about why they strive to be “authentic” when hosting these dating shows. Part of that approach includes talking about the issues they’ve overcome in their own relationships.

In the first season of The Ultimatum, she revealed she’d given Nick an ultimatum even though she always said she “was going to be that girl that would never give a man an ultimatum,” per People.

“We dated for five years. So I finally said, ‘What are we doing?’ I have now moved in with him, I renovated his entire bachelor pad, there was a bar in the pool. I’m like, ‘Whatever you want!’ Now I’m like, ‘Okay, well, I want to put kids in the pool,'” she recalled.

The couple have now been married since 2011 and share three children.

The Ultimatum Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
